Landing page

The landing page content type is designed to act as a gateway and introduction to your site.

Your landing page can be the gateway to your entire site, or an overview to a particular section of your website, for example the child pages of a main menu item.

The landing page should also display the look and feel that will be continued across your website.

Introducing your website

To help you introduce your website, you might want to ask yourself:

  • What can my users do here?
  • What content and resources are available to them?
  • How can they find information or complete tasks that are specific to my website?
  • Are there any key visuals I want to add as a first impression to site visitors?

Landing page layout

On your landing page, you can make your information clear and visually appealing by using different page components such feature boxes, images and videos.

You can then choose from four different layout options, specific to the landing page content type. You can choose from the default single column layout, a two-column layout, or two variants of a three-column layout.

For each option explained, go to our page on layouts as a page component:

You can click and drag your page components to whichever column and position you would like, so you can fully customise your landing page in the way that best suits your content and your audience.

Using cards

Cards are a page component specific to landing pages. They allow you to link out to other pages on your website, and provide a visual and written summary of the content your website you will cover.

They are a great way for visitors to get an overview of the look, feel and content of your site.

It is good practice to keep the written content of your cards short, sticking mainly to key headings or a brief 1-2 sentence description of your content.
