Many types of content and page components can be re-used across your site whilst only needing to edit one copy. The content you would like to reuse across your site will be kept in an asset library. Reusable media Images, videos, documents and HTML blocks are all types of reusable media. When you upload one of these media items to EdWeb 2, they will be kept in the media library. Once it is uploaded, you can re-use it across your site where needed. Similarly, if you are looking for a certain piece of content that is not managed by your department, you can often find it in the media library. You can type its name into the search field, or if it doesn't have an obvious title, you can search by a description or a few keywords. Reusable paragraph containers You can also create reusable page components, called 'paragraph containers'. These could be reusable blocks of texts, or components such as addresses or contact buttons. You can create a paragraph container and save it to the paragraph containers' library, then add it like a standard page component to whichever page you need it. To make changes, you will only need to edit the original version saved to the library. Adding reusable content - best practices Images should be given descriptive names. This will make them easily searchable. Documents should be named in the assets store as they are titled. Streaming media should be named in the asset store as they are titled. If the media does not have a title it should be named descriptively. Paragraph containers should be labelled clearly with the component type and its use.
