The process of migrating websites from the older EdWeb platform into EdWeb 2 is underway. Training is being offered to support web editors with this transition. What training is available We have developed a new course which covers the basics of using the new EdWeb 2 platform, 'EdWeb 2: 5 things to get started with EdWeb 2'. This course is tutor-led, and delivered either face to face in a classroom or online via Collaborate. Who should attend EdWeb 2 training is mandatory for all users who will be managing or editing a University of Edinburgh website within the EdWeb 2 platform. At this stage, editors are being contacted directly and invited to attend this training course based on their sites migration date. This is to ensure that each site which is being migrated has trained users in place to support their website at the point in which it goes live in the EdWeb 2 platform. Lead Publisher list on the EdWeb support Wiki What you'll learn The EdWeb 2 training should take around 2 to 3 hours to complete. The main areas of the course will cover: Logging into the platform. Navigating the editorial interface and the content information screens. The available content types (page templates) and when each should be used. Adding content components to web pages and configuring their content using the editing tools within the platform. Best practice for adding accessible and effective textual content and media into webpages. Publishing web pages to the live website and adding these into the site navigation menus. Editing and un-publishing existing web pages There will then be a training of practical exercises for you to work through to familiarise yourself with the platform and practice creating content. Updates on this course The EdWeb 2 training course is targeted to be ready for enrolment by the time of the EdWeb to EdWeb 2 migration. We are working hard to create an online, self-enrol version of this course, so keep an eye on this page and the WAC news pages for updates on our progress. If you are needing to edit an existing EdWeb page before your website migrates between November 2023 and March 2024, you will need to have completed the older EdWeb training.
